felted butterfly and beeNeedle Felted Treasures

While miniature versions of dogs and cats keep me hopping through the holiday season, sometimes I receive additional fun requests.  Holly reached out to have me make Northwoodsy felted critters to add to a mobile she was making for her child’s nursery.  Three years later, she was ready to give the nursery an update for her second child, requesting a monarch butterfly and a bumblebee.  It was an adorable challenge to create these soft, lovable items just for her and her young ones.

Artful Showpieces

Carole was ready to give her living room a new look, replacing an old, faded hanging.  She sent me pictures of her space, as well as notes about her love of hummingbirds and flowers.  For my largest-yet punch needle tapestry project, Carole proved to be a gem to work with, and I’ll never forget the glee at our unveiling party at the farm.  The piece lights up the room and is a treasure to share for generations.  You can learn more about the story of this piece and its commision process here.

Transformative Attirescostume for Ada

Ada of the University of Chicago’s theater department discovered my studio via Etsy and has made several requests for historic-inspired attires, which have been featured in numerous Shakespearean productions through her department.  My signature style with period dress/costume is to use as many upcycled and repurposed materials as possible, keeping them economical as well as environmentally conscious.  This Tudor Era-inspired set includes numerous repurposed materials to create a sumptuous effect.

I love using the beautiful wool from our farm’s sheep to create cozy wearable of many types.  You can peruse currently available items via my farm’s e-store here.  I’m also happy to make pieces just for you, say in a color or style of your choice.  There are so many reasons to love real wool, from its warmth and durability to how our rotational grazing practices sequester carbon and help to create a healthy, more verdant ecosystem on our family farm.  Marty loved the style of shearling-lined cabled headband shown here, but she wanted a color to match her coat.  So, she brought in the coat and similar colors of paper, and I made one just for her!

Perhaps you are looking for something artfully one-of-a-kind for that someone special.  I’d love to start a conversation and learn more about what you’re looking for.  This painting with wool project inspired by The Unicorn Tapestries (Met Cloisters) proved to be a special gift for Paul’s unicorn-enthusisat friend.  From small and affordable to extensive and heirloom quality, I’m interested in hearing how Erindale Tapestry Studio creations could create just the right gift for you.
